Hookah’s History
The history of hookah dates back to 16th-century India, where it was first used with a setup made from coconut shells. Over time, it spread to the Middle East and the Ottoman Empire through the Persians. During the Ottoman period, hookah became a symbol of refined living and was especially popular in royal circles. Traditionally, it involved smoking tobacco through water, and it became a social ritual connecting people across cultures. Today, hookah remains a popular social activity worldwide.
